A rather limited aircraft, without all-weather intercept or attack capability, the F-5 is nontheless tough, simple, cheap, agile, and supersonic. The Northrop F-5 was designed to be effective in simple wars in visual conditions. Popular in the export market and adopted by many NATO countries, it generally serves only second-line duties today.
